Regenerative Sourcing for
Orthopedic Clinics

Five material families are documented for musculoskeletal research: three tissue-matched cell lineages, the base MSC line, and Wharton's Jelly whole tissue — each with a matched exosome product.

Materials matched to the tissue

Every lineage is derived from Wharton's Jelly in donated umbilical cord tissue and offered in both a cell and a cell-free format, so a program can switch between them without changing supplier or source.

Wharton's Jelly: the whole-tissue option

The most complete preparation in the portfolio, and the one most often specified for intra-articular musculoskeletal research.

Wharton's Jelly

SKU WJ

Minimally processed whole tissue with an intact extracellular matrix and matrix-bound growth factors — a matrix-driven biologic rather than a cell-therapy product.

These are experimental use cases, provided as a scientific reference for researchers. Except where noted, they did not use Akira Biotech materials, and results may not be reproducible with ours. Akira Biotech supplies laboratory reagents for research use only. Our products are NOT approved by FDA or any regulatory authority and are not for use in or on humans.

When a program specifies exosomes instead

Neither format is presented as more effective. These are the supply and handling considerations that usually decide it.

Cells and whole tissue

  • Living cells that engraft, differentiate along the lineage, and keep signalling in situ.
  • Wharton's Jelly additionally supplies a structural matrix that host cells can infiltrate.
  • Dose is expressed as a cell count or a tissue mass.
  • Released against immunophenotype, karyotype, and 98%+ post-thaw viability.

Exosomes

  • Cell-free and non-replicating, with no nuclear material.
  • Dose is a countable particle number — 400 billion+ per mL, NTA-validated per batch.
  • Simpler to characterize, and required by some study designs and jurisdictions.
  • Chondrocyte exosomes are supplied for IA use alongside IV and IM.

Fills, documentation, and lead time

What accompanies an order and what has to be confirmed before one ships.
  • Standard cell fills are 10 million / 2 mL and 25 million / 5 mL; the base MSC line is also offered at 5 million / 1 mL.
  • Standard exosome concentration is 400 billion+ per mL.
  • A certificate of analysis accompanies every batch: identity, purity, potency, genomic stability, and safety testing.
  • CD34−, CD45−, and HLA-DR− absence markers are confirmed on every MSC batch.
  • Minimum order quantity and lead time are quoted per product and per destination.
